The words be ready have been swirling around in my mind for months.
They first arrived when my pastor shared a story of having to give a spontaneous sermon when technology failed. He was able to pop up on stage and speak off the cuff because of all of the preparations he has done up to that point.
Because of his life with God, his rhythms and habits, and his experiences, when he was needed, he was ready.
For much of the past five years or so, I’ve felt like I’m in a bit of a waiting for what’s next season. I have ideas and hopes of what might be coming, but the timing has not felt right. But in that story from my pastor, I felt God’s quiet invitation to be ready.
I don’t know when God will move or opportunities might come my way, but when they do, I want to be ready.
I want to, because of my life with God, my rhythms and habits, and my experiences, be ready when I’m needed.
That’s what we’ll explore for this month’s mini-retreat. We don’t always know what God is up to, what he’s doing in us, through us, around us or when he’ll move. But we are invited to be ready.
As a reminder, mini-retreats are for paid subscribers, but you can upgrade your subscription below if you’re interested! I’m also linking to all previous retreat guides in case you missed one or if another topic speaks more to where you are now and what you need.
And may you encounter the God who loves you as you make space in your schedule and in your soul.
