A few weeks ago, on a walk in the woods, I felt prompted to just listen. I noticed the birdsong and that felt like hope. Hope that Spring was coming.

As I walked some more, I noticed the tiny green buds emerging from dead-looking branches. More hope. Spring was on it’s way.

I began to wonder with God, why does Spring feel like hope?

What came to mind is that it’s a picture of resurrection. Life coming from death. And we long for resurrection. We want what feels dead -relationships, dreams, hopes, ideas, opportunities- to spring back to life.

Springtime is a picture of this.

And Easter, which we we celebrate in mere days, is resurrection in it’s fullness. Life from death that ushers in eternal resurrection for all who believe.

That’s what we’ll explore this month. Resurrection. One change from typical mini-retreats. Instead of scripture, we will read and reflect on song lyrics (Springtime by Chris Renzema) that explore these very ideas.

If you’re hoping to dig more deeply into Scripture as you head towards Easter, check out this past post that walks you through the events of Holy Week.

As a reminder, mini-retreats are for paid subscribers, but you can upgrade your subscription below if you’re interested! I’m also linking to all previous (33!) retreat guides in case you missed one or if another topic speaks more to where you are now and what you need.

And may you encounter the God who loves you as you make space in your schedule and in your soul.
