We are quickly approaching the season of Lent. This year, it begins on March 5th.

Lent is a season of the church calendar. It’s the 40 days (not counting Sundays) leading up to Easter and it’s typically a time where we look inward and practice self examination and repentance (and oftentimes fasting) as we look towards the cross, our need for Jesus and His resurrection.

I’ve been reading through the book of Matthew and noticed the phrase “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” repeated again and again as the good news that John the Baptist, Jesus, and His disciples shared with the waiting, hurting, weary world. I’ve been thinking a lot about that word, repent, which means turning back to God. Noticing where I’ve been doing my own thing, going my own way and then actively choosing to turn back. And receiving the good news that God’s kingdom has come in part and is still coming in fullness.

It feels like this is a season for turning back. Maybe for you too? This month’s mini-retreat will help us prepare our hearts for the Lent season as we discern God’s invitation for us as we head toward Easter.

As a reminder, mini-retreats are for paid subscribers, but you can upgrade your subscription below if you’re interested! I’m also linking to all previous retreat guides in case you missed one or if another topic speaks more to where you are now and what you need.

One more thing, last year I shared an unconventional Lent guide. If you’re looking for something different, check this out!
